It’s a very harsh leafbare, one of the worst that the clans can remember. There are more cats dying than being born, and they can’t even bury any of them because the ground is frozen hard. It gets so bad that during the last gathering a group of cats decided to leave the Forrest in search for a temporary place to live until the summer comes. And those who stay decide to close the borders and have no more gatherings until it gets warmer. Snowtuft is one of the cats who decides to stay behind and he is made temporary deputy.
